23 New Images of Character Art for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Starring Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender

     May 5, 2014

20th Century Fox has released twenty-three new images of X-Men: Days of Future Past character art.  The story finds Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) having his consciousness sent back to 1973 in order to help Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the rest of the X-Men: First Class crew stop the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants.  This art use the same images as the ones from the Empire Magazine covers we saw a few months back.  The only thing that’s different is that the backgrounds are different and the Empire text is gone.  There were twenty-five posters for Empire; the missing two from this set: director Bryan Singer (no surprise) and Rogue (slight surprise), although it looks like she probably has a brief cameo in the finale cut.

Hit the jump to check out the character art.  The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellan, Patrick StewartPeter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, and Halle Berry.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: Days of Future Past:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

I hope they preview this early to critics so that we can see what the consensus is early – like TASM2 did. Really excited but I want to know which Bryan Singer showed up to direct it – X2 Singer or Jack the Giant Slayer Singer.

I am sure it will be a hit.

Financially, maybe it will be, but I think critically a film like this needs to be positive in order to be a sure fire hit. TASM can get away with that because it’s Spider-Man and people will always go see him but the X-Men have been on the decline every since X3 underwhelmed at the boxoffice in ’06. I can see it opening to a respectable $100M but if it’s not a good film then it’ll decline quickly.

yeah I’m worried about a “Hulk” second weekend myself…

I hope they don’t. I’ve already gone cold turkey for RT. I tried for Collider, but I can’t resist. Less than 3 weeks to go!

I am still holding out hope that we’ll someday see the Usual Suspects Bryan Singer. Am I crazy?

Man, I REALLY want to see this, but they really need to chill on the Spider-Man 2 marketing style. I prefer to not know the entire plot of a movie before going to the theater!

Actually, I think we know so little about this movie! There are a lot of surprises in store: major deaths, revenges, plot twists, and more.

They have a collosus poster, a collosus poster!! He was barely in part two and three. He’s cool yeah, but where’s Rogue?!!

Wonder why they changed Ellen Page’s outfit? Hummmmmmm.

    1. Fassbender’s Magneto looks too ‘posey’. McKellan looks natural.
    2. Why does Ellen Page look like she’s got a massive hard-on???
    3. How do they get away with a softcore JenLaw? Not that I’m complaining!
