First Look at Halle Berry as Storm in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

     April 22, 2013

Production is underway on the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the fact that he’s now busy filming the actual movie hasn’t stopped director Bryan Singer from teasing the superhero pic via photos on Twitter.  We most recently got glimpses of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Shawn Ashmore’s Iceman in costume, and today Singer shared an image of Halle Berry back in character as Storm.  The film melds the casts of Singer’s X-Men films and Matthew Vaughn’s prequel X-Men: First Class, as the DOFP story involves alternate timelines and dystopian futures.

Hit the jump to get a look at Storm back in costume, complete with a brand new wig.  The film also stars James McAvoyMichael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellanHugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar SyDaniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, and Peter Dinklage.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens July 18, 2014.

I don’t know how I feel about this.

    • Rich woa

I dont know how I feel about this after couple of images being released.

      • Brian

It will (probably) be fine. Out of context, most superhero costumes that are in movies look remarkably silly.

  • Ryan D

Why doesn’t she have the wig from the previous X-Men movies?

    • jon

Because then some other ass would complain that they didn’t do anything new with her character and she looks like same old Storm

  • nyckage

In all honesty, I never liked her as Storm anyway.

  • A-Man

    Still hot.

    • Guilop

I think we can all agree that the money makers in Swordfish made us all appreciate her that much more.

“I’ll wear a ridiculous afro for a stock thriller about a police dispatcher, but screw you if you want me to wear a white wig for X-Men again.” – Halle Berry

  • Brian

Honestly, I cannot understand all the hatred directed at Halle Berry. She’s not the greatest actress ever – though by no means the worse, and arguably better than actors like Keanu Reeves – and yet she always seems to be the focus of such fanboy hatred (I don’t mean at the moment; it seems sedate here so far).

I am not sure if it has anything to do with her being African-American, a woman, successful, or a combination thereof, but it seems way too vitriolic to be anything approaching rational (which makes sense considering that the people who do the complaining have (probably) never actually seen her in person, never mind know her.

It’s weird, and more than a little bit off-putting, though in my book she’ll aways get props for standing with (pardon the pun) Tom DeSanto, and standing against Bryan Singer (who actually surprised me by bringing her back)

    • brNdon

The hatred is because she is NOT Storm. It has nothing to do with her race you ass-hat. Halle Berry is sexy as all hell, but she is not Storm. Storm is an Amazon of a Woman. A Strong, independent, AFRICAN Woman. That is not who Halle plays in the movies.

      • Hiro

        I agree brNdon.

I think that Viola Davis could make for a good Storm, but I do think that such a role (and it sounds like a small, lightweight one) is below her skill level.

Back around the time of the original X-Men movies, I wanted Angela Bassett to be Storm.

      • lee

Totally agree, brNdon. Like, seriously, why pull the race card? The woman won a fracking Oscar so it’s not about her ability. I agree that the hatred’s too strong and vicious (although I myself tend to get carried away talking about Singer) but I don’t disagree with the reason behind it. The issue is that, regardless of who you want to lay the blame on, no X-Men fan can say that portrayal of Storm wasn’t pitiful. @Hiro, Viola Davis and Angela Bassett could probably capture the spirit of Storm but my pick has always been Gina Torres.

As for the outfit, it’s okay. The cape looks lame but we’ll see how it is in action. The hair does remind me of mohawk Storm so it’s no worse than in the previous movies.

  • GunsOfNavarone

I don’t have a problem with her hair, or the outfit. In fact, I’m riding the Singer wave and the surf is good.

  • Daniel

That’s badass! Wish it did have a little more white in it tho…

  • Jef

Berry’s Storm always wears this constant worried look on her face.

  • Kevin

The outfit looks great! Its a great compromise from the black leather suits that everyone, with the exception of myself, complained so much about……yet, it’s a thousand times better than the idiotic spandex, yellow and blue suits that were used in the comics and a hudred times better than the yellow and blue leather suits in First Class.

Its slightly futuristic (which makes sense considering part of this takes place in the future), sleek, elegant, in a militaristic kind of way…. and yet very, very badass. I actually cant wait to see what everyone else’s look like!

    Well done, Bryan Singer….well done!

Oh, and Halle Berry sucks….no matter which way you swing it. She sucks as an actress and she’s a bitch as a human being. Not a fan at all. Storm was never one of my favorite X-Men growing up as a kid and she certainly wasn’t one of my favorites in the movies… hopefully Singer will just feed her a couple lines and then keep her in the background, like he usually does.

  • Joey

Looks like crap. Anyone who makes statements about the “yellow” comic costumes adapting poorly to the silver screen doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Just look at spiderman, Watchmen, etc.. Those costumes look good. Berry sucks at playing Storm…Singer sucks at X-men movies (Superman movies too). Marvel’s movies are getting owned by DC. If it doesn’t look like Nolan’s or Snyder’s DC adaptions, they don’t have a chance. Uncanny X-Men is my favorite series from my childhood and they haven’t done it ANY justice yet. I’m not into the cheesy stuff and that’s what Singer brings to the table…

    • Spenser

DC isnt even kind of beating Marvel in movies. They have Batman.

    • True

X-men is a property with the potential to translate into great movies, but like all Marvel flicks, they seem to have gone to the school of Jerry Bruckheimer. Faceless products with a focus on popcorn entertainment rather than telling a decent story with proper character development. Sad thing is, people eat it up regardless.

  • DG

I would give up an entirely months pay from work. Real talk.

  • cedartreeradar

storm always had and continues to have the prettiest suit

  • Ugh

So still no actual ‘X-Men’ costumes? God forbid we respect the source material just a little bit.

  • Peter

She dies in this one, right?

Halle Berry is a good actress, but she is sooooo not Storm. If i only knew storm from the movies i would of hated her. Thanks Halle for messing up Storm and Fox needs to hurry and give back the rights to X-Men and Fantastic 4 to marvel so we can see a decently done version of these.
