I don’t know any fans of the mutant Toad, but the must be out there. There must be people who watch 2000’s X-Men, and when Storm says, “Do you know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning?” they shout, “Noooo! Don’t do it! Also, that’s an awful line reading!” Today, there’s good news for Toad fans because his younger self will be showing up in X-Men: Days of Future Past. At the season three premiere of girls, actor Evan Jonigkeit said he’s playing the gross henchman, and “it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool.” However, the character will look significantly different than Ray Park in the original movie, according to Jonigkeit. “It’s darker,” Jonigkeit tells MTV. “I would say it’s a darker tone.”
Of course, Days of Future Past is jam-packed with mutants, and I assume his role will be incredibly brief. At most, I assume it’s along the lines of Magneto hiring people for the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Toad explaining, “Well, I can crush people by jumping on them, I spit green goop, and have a really long tongue. Basically, I’m disgusting but effective,” and Magneto responds, “SO. HIRED.” X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd.
