X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Character Trailers for Banshee, Havok, and Beast

     May 5, 2011

While Fox may be striking out with their posters for X-Men: First Class, the trailers continue to be fantastic.  The studio has released three new trailers for the film, each focusing on a different mutant: Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones), Havok (Lucas Till), and Beast (Nicholas Hoult).  One of my main concerns about the movie is that it will be overstuffed with mutants like X-Men: The Last Stand.  However, these brief character trailers give me hope that the film has devoted time to each of the characters to not only show their abilities, but also to illustrate their personalities.  However, in the trailers for Banshee and Havok, we get an even better sense of Xavier with James McAvoy doing an excellent job of conveying the character’s compassion.

Hit the jump to check out the trailers.  X-Men: First Class also stars Michael Fassbender, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.  It opens June 3rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: First Class:

X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

I’m not intending to troll, but on nearly every post related to a superhero film, we get a post like this just listing characters like someone used wiki’d the character and copied/pasted over a list. Very odd.

Only watched the Banshee video so far (trying to avoid watching too many trailers for this), but I really like the idea of the “training scenes”, but does make me think this would have also made a good TV series. I’d never considered the idea of showing the mutants getting to grips with their powers.

Considering I was really down on this project when first announced, I am now really looking forward to it. Looks to be much more fun than the first few X-Men films, which I always felt took themselves a little too seriously.

WHY. . . . . . . . . why in the hell weren’t these 3 trailers released before ANY other poster/footage the geniuses behind selling this movie came up with ????

All three trailers look GREAT! I really hope they pull some type of “Star Trek Reboot” and retcon the original trilogy. This film was rushed into production (and still looks awesome), imagine what Vaughn can do with more time and money on further sequels!

Ahhhh! I can’t wait to see this movie! Looks like it could be the best x-men yet.

Were those hula hoops of death?

  • Roland

These are AWESOME! Good thing they released these because until now, I didn’t have faith in this movie. Looks really promising!

  • John

Hate to be picky, but wasn’t Banshee irish?

    • tazmaniak

And Storm was African, Magneto was Austrian, Colossus was Russian, Pyro was Australian, Deathstrike was Japanese, Agent Zero was German and Xavier and Juggernaut were American. But, they weren’t in the movie.

At this point, it doesn’t really matter. We’ve all known for about 10 years now that the movie characters won’t necessarily share the same nationality or accents of their comic book counterparts.

Well, he might be more American Irish in the movie..But Caleb does have red hair..I suspect that casting choice is not by accident.

He’s a pretty decent actor from what I’ve seen of him too. He was great in The Last Exorcism..

    • Becvar

Too bad red hair is a poor stereotype for Irish, since only a minority of Irish are actually red-haired. Far more are dark haired, dark eyed, pale skinned and freckled.

  • Bill Graham

WHAT!??! That Banshee trailer was amazing. I’m not all that familiar with his story or his powers. I just know he can scream super loud. But that explained his power and I loved how they had him utilize it. Had me in a joyous fit.
