New Trailer for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

     April 27, 2011

Fox has released a new trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class.  There’s a lot of good new footage and snippets of dialogue in this trailer. I’m still not sure how The Hellfire Club factors into the story, but I liked a lot of what the trailer has to show. We get a better look at the relationship between Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and there’s a much darker tone to the relationship between Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as opposed to previous trailers which seemed to position Magneto more as a tragic figure. Fingers crossed that all these storylines and characters come together in a quality film.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Oliver Platt, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Kevin Bacon.  The film opens June 3rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: First Class:

X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

to be honest, after the first couple screen shots and set shots I was unimpressed and doubted that this would be even a decent movie, but… the past two trailers have won me over. the actors seem to have their characters down (still weird seeing Prof. X with hair though, he’s been bald for 27 years for me lol). the beast transformation alone looks outstanding. there may be too many characters, but if it’s done right, I think it’ll be great. Additionally, the tone of the characters and the costume design both seem to fit the period the movie is supposed to be filmed in pretty well.

Was definitely worried about this film a few months ago, especially considering that they were still in production and Matthew Vaughn was in a state of panic. But these trailers do look very cool and as long as they can finish the effects in time I can look forward to a solid X-Men film.

They should have included Harry Leland, Donald Pierce, Tessa and Selene instead of several randomly chosen mutants whose names that they picked out of a hat.

Much better trailer than the first….. gives more of an insight into what the film is actually about…. and i didn’t know that mystique was with beast…?

Wtf was that at 1:54? X Kids? I want to like this but for every bit that looks good, there is something that looks naff. I’ll probably see it but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Wow, the trailer looks really good! Some of the screenshots were pretty bad back then but this trailer looks very believable and realistic. I didn’t feel like I was watching something dorky at all like I did with those posters.

To be accurate Magneto prevented WWIII.
