How good is this Russian trailer for X-Men: First Class?  I didn’t understand a word of it and yet I now want to see the movie even more.  There’s plenty of new footage in this trailer, and it looks like the story is more centered on Magneto (Michael Fassbender) than it is on Professor X (James McAvoy).  I have absolutely no problem with that.  And yet, I can’t help but feel that once again we’re being set up for a letdown.  It’s a feeling that has nothing to do with the quality of trailers or the footage we’ve seen so far.  It’s a feeling that comes from the one-two punch of X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  X-Men: First Class also stars January Jones, Rose Byrne, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.  It opens June 3rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: First Class:

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events.  Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon.  In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.  Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass”) directs, and the producers are Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer.  Singer, who helmed the acclaimed blockbusters “X-Men” and “X2,” wrote the story for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

It’s looking better every day. Still not completely sold on some of the CGI, but character develpment wise, it looks like we’re gonna get a much more complex and well crafted story than X3 and Wolverine (not difficult, I know). Hope it goes over 2hrs so the pacing and introduction of all characters is done nicely!

I’m really excited for this movie, i know what you mean with the letdowns in the past but i think this one will be the real deal, Matthew Vaughn knows what he’s doing. Just look at kick-ass.

Well if you can stomach it just watch Wolverine and X-Men 3 and then it will be impossible to be let down.

So much better than the first trailer.

Looks even more BAD ASS!!! My only problem is Magneto looks a little dorky towards the end with his helmet on and his hand in the air (probably to stop those missiles, but it could be edited to look that way.)

But Matt you said, “I didn’t understand a word of it and yet I now want to see the movie even more.” then said, “And yet, I can’t help but feel that once again we’re being set up for a letdown.”

    Which one is it?

I think it’s great how they’ve given Magneto his classic helmet but justified it’s dorky looks in that he worked out a way to protect his mind from the most powerful telepath on earth.

With that knowledge it looks badass.
