Xavier Gens ("Hitman") has agreed to direct the action thriller "The Fallout" and production starts February in Eastern Europe. ContentFilm International has taken worldwide sales rights to the film on the eve of AFM (American Film Market). The film is set in post-apocalyptic New York and it's being billed as "a thriller that combines elements of Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival." More after the jump:

According to Screendaily, "The Fallout" will be produced by Ross Dinerstein ("The Killing Room", "Powder Blue"), Darryn Welch ("Goal! The Dream Begins", and Tony Krantz ("24", "Mulholland Drive") and it was written by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean who will also co-produce.

While some producers play it safe with their quotes....I love the one Producer Darryn Welch gave for the project, "With a collective of 'End of the World' movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous Pit bull in a school playground... brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!"

ContentFilm International's President Jamie Carmichael added: 'Xavier is a super talented, commercial filmmaker and he's a perfect match for this terrifying material. It's going to be a very stylish genre film and we're extremely excited to be working with him, Ross and Darryn.'

While I didn't think much of "Hitman", it did have an interesting look. Perhaps Xavier Gens will surprise us all with "The Fallout". Also, I have a thing for end of the world films.

Finally, with AFM (American Film Market) getting ready to start here in Los Angeles, expect a lot of updates on many smaller indie movies.
