The vampire craze feels like it’s on its way out, but what better way to give it one last infusion than by combining it with martial arts? That’s the gist of Takashi Miike’s new film, which comes on the heels of such visceral works as Ichi the Killer and 13 Assassins, and focuses on a vampiric Yakuza boss.

The Japanese cult director has really taken things to a new level with Yakuza Apocalypse, and the trailer is pretty insane (but awesome). There’s the Yakuza boss with his wings (?) spread, sure, but there’s also a (possessed?) frog mascot who kicks ass and does not even need to take names because what the actual heck it’s a mercenary mascot take my money. This is also the most Japanese thing I may have ever seen.

Check out the trailer below. “A war will wage, blood will be shed, and a hero will be born.” But, a lot of other crazy things happens meanwhile, and it needs be seen to be believed.
