YOU’RE NOT YOU Trailer and Images Feature Hilary Swank as a Pianist Battling ALS

     August 28, 2014

The trailer for director George C. Wolfe’s new film You’re Not You has some incredible timing on its side.  Thanks to the viral phenomenon of those ubiquitous ice bucket challenge videos, I think it’s safe to say that awareness for ALS is at an all-time high.  The film stars Hilary Swank as a famous pianist who is stricken with the disease and hires an unconventional assistant, Emmy Rossum, to help her cope.

Going off the trailer, the film looks well made if not a little conventional.  It’s hard for me to fault these kinds of movies for that though, we all need to find the uplifting elements in any tragic scenario I suppose.  Hit the jump for the You’re Not You trailer.  The film also stars Josh Duhamel, Marcia Gay Harden, Jason Ritter, Ali Larter, and Loretta Devina and opens in theaters and On Demand on October 10th.

Is this a remake of The Intouchables?

I thought the same thing! The INTOUCABLES is AMAZING!!…This not so much

You see it’s difficult because on the one hand this film will bring even more awareness to a debilitating illness but one can’t help but question the motives of the people behind these films when the way in which they are marketed and filmed seems so manipulative and geared towards getting awards at the Oscars. Swank in particular never seems too far away when a sad story is to be told around this time of the year.

To be fair, you can’t spell Hilary Swank without ALS. That means something, right?

So is ALS like the buzz disease out there right now?

    • Lex Walker

I think colony collapse disorder is the buzz disease right now.
