We just learned that Michael Cera and John Hawkes will be leading Charlie Kaufman’s FX comedy pilot How and Why, and now word comes that Zach Galifianakis will be leading another promising pilot for the network. THR reports that Galifianakis will star in an untitled comedy pilot from executive producer Louis C.K., which is the first project under C.K.’s recent development deal with the network. Details are unknown at this point, but Galifianakis created the potential series and will co-write the pilot script with C.K.
Additionally, FX has finalized its cast for the drama series pilot Hoke. Paul Giamatti is already attached to produce and star in the potential show, which is described as a darkly comedic drama that revolves around a hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective in pre-chic Miami in the early 1980s. Scott Frank (The Lookout) wrote and will direct the pilot, and he’ll act as co-showrunner with David Manson if Hoke goes to series. The pilot will shoot in Miami.
