Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) had been rumored to direct the slacker pizza delivery guy comedy 30 Minutes or Less since the middle of March, and now it seems he’s finally signed on. After a number of films tried to snatch the hot director, including Mission: Impossible 4, Production Weekly is reporting that Fleischer will begin filming 30 Minutes or Less this July in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Danny McBride is in talks to play Dwayne. McBride has been rumored for a role in the film for a while, but with a director finally on board, it seems likely that he will finally sign on the dotted line. More after the jump:
Hunter Stephenson at /Film has read the script, which was featured in last year’s Black List, and describes the film in a bit more detail. 30 Minutes or Less is written by the duo of Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, who penned the Observe & Report follow-up for Jody Hill, L.A.P.I., and follows a pizza delivery guy who has to go beyond his means when he has a run-in with two thugs (Dwayne is one of them) that give him “an explosive ultimatum.” Stephenson says the sensibilities of political incorrectness and affinity for “white oafs” makes the script perfect for a Fleischer/McBride pairing. Additionally, with the film likely to be R-rated, this seems like a perfect follow up for Fleischer. As always, more as we get it.
