Zombieland scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been a hot commodity recently, with news that they would not only write the upcoming Deadpool film, but also pen the G.I. Joe sequel. However, they recently sat down with MTV to discuss their sequel to Zombieland and had some interesting things to say.
Most notable is that they are interested in giving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) a love interest, though they haven’t worked that out yet. Additionally, while they plan to keep the core group of Tallahassee (Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) together, there are plans to introduce new characters.
After the jump, see what they plan for 3D and the further adventures of Little Rock.
The Zombieland sequel was announced to be in 3D in early December, and Wernick and Reese have no shortage of ideas for the extra dimension.
“We entirely want to write with 3-D in mind,” Wernick told MTV. Reese added, “We want you to be looking down at your popcorn to make sure there isn’t blood on it. There will be a lot of fluids flying!”
Of course, how far they will push the technology is anyone’s guess. If you have seen the first film, you know there is no shortage of drooling bile and blood. I can envision a close-up of a zombie drooling over the audience. The various rules will likely be in 3D as well, to help get those laughs the first had.
Meanwhile, Reese and Wernick also plan to further explore the coming-of-age storyline for Little Rock, the younger sister of Wichita.
“Growing up in a world that’s not necessarily geared towards growing up; it’s a world that forces you to grow up much quicker than you would have otherwise.”
If you haven’t seen the first, it is now out on Blu-ray and DVD, so make sure to give the hilarious and entertaining film a shot. The sequel is currently in development with no firm release date.
