Here's our first look at 6 Days, Toa Fraser's take on the 1980 siege of London's Iranian Embassy that led to a surpassingly tense six-day hostage situation that ended with at least one very public murder. Fraser, who last helmed the mildly fascinating The Dead Lands, directs Jamie Bell as Rusty, a no-nonsense SAS officer who becomes crucial to the freeing of the hostages, particularly on the catastrophic final day of the stand-off. Mark Strong also stars, seemingly as one of Rusty's higher-ups, alongside Abbie Cornish in an unspecified role; recent Ridley Scott favorite Emun Elliott also has a role that has yet to be detailed as of yet.

The handful of images doesn't give much information as to how the story will unravel, but it should be noted that Fraser has shown a talent for building active and mounting tension before letting go with a visceral action scene or sequence. There's also increasingly good reason to anchor a film to Bell, who has been carrying Turn, a frustratingly hit-and-miss series, and proved essential to the harrowing drama of both Nymphomaniac and Bong Joon-ho's staggering Snowpiercer last year. He'll next be seen in the, for better or worse, highly anticipated reboot of Fantastic Four, alongside Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. Considering those films and the roles, however, it will be admittedly refreshing to see Bell playing something a bit more down-to-earth than the tragic survivor of a dystopian ice age or an icy, by-appointment-only sadist.

Fraser's film is set to see release sometime in 2016. Check out the first images from 6 Days below, via EW:
