Those who caught two of the actor’s other films at festivals earlier this year have been touting Unbroken star Jack O’Connell as one of the breakout performers of the year, and while Starred Up already enjoyed a limited release, the first trailer for his other feature, ’71, has now been released online.  Directed by Yann Demange, the story revolves around a British soldier (O’Connell) who is abandoned by his unit during the Belfast riots in 1971.  The film looks to be both powerful and thrilling, and Matt described it as “too daring for Hollywood and all the better for it” in his review, so I look forward to seeing the pic myself.Watch the first ’71 trailer after the jump and click here for Steve’s interview with O’Connell from the Berlin Film Festival.  ’71 also stars Sam Reid and Sean Harris and opens in the U.S. on February 27, 2015.Trailer via Yahoo! '71 takes place over a single night in the life of a young British soldier (Jack O'Connell) accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971. Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, he must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.
