Last month, Netflix dropped a teaser for one of its upcoming holiday movies, A Boy Called Christmas. Now, as we approach the November release date, the streamer revealed the official trailer for the adventure and fantasy film that is set to reveal how Christmas came to be. The story follows a boy that ventures into the North Pole in order to find his father and long-forgotten evidence that magic is real. A Boy Called Christmas will premiere on November 24.
The new trailer features everything you’d expect from a Christmas movie: talking animals, elves, giants, curious characters with inspiring lessons, and a wondrous adventure: Nikolas decides to take a wild and dangerous ride into the land of the elves in order to bring back some proof that magic still exists, since the world doesn’t believe in it anymore. Oh, and there is snow. A lot of it.
A Boy Called Christmas is directed by Academy Award nominee Gil Kenan, who is veering into the fantasy territory after directing horror films like Monster House and the Poltergeist remake. The story of the Netflix Christmas movie was adapted from the 2015 best-selling novel of the same name by author Matt Haig, with Kenan and Ol Parker co-writing the script. Parker recently wrote The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel, as well as 2018’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Aside from Lawfull, the cast also features Michiel Huisman, Maggie Smith, Kristen Wiig, Stephen Merchant, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Toby Jones, Joel Fry, Zoe Colletti, and Rune Temte.
