In the midst of Robert Rodriguez's scheduling conflicts, a new name is now being discussed as potentially filling Deadpool's director's chair - Swedish commercial/video director Adam Berg.  Although he has yet to helm a feature film, Berg is believed to have landed on 20th Century Fox's radar as a result of his work on Carousel, a commercial he directed which took home the Cannes Lions International Advertising prize.  Per 24 Frames, the freeze-frame short earned him the respect of both the studio as well as Deadpool himself, the seemingly infallible Ryan Reynolds, making him a "top contender" to take over the film.

To check out Berg's highly-stylized commercial as well as my thoughts on his potential involvement, hit the jump.

Interestingly enough, the visual style on display in Berg's Carousel is reminiscent of another former commercial director turned "Superhero Movie" mainstay, Zack Snyder.  Unfolding entirely in freeze-frame, the short takes its sweet time in depicting the events surrounding a bank robbery.  That's not to say that this is the only ace up Berg's proverbial sleeve but, given his limited videography, it's certainly the one on most prominent display.

As for Berg's involvement in Deadpool, naturally I'd feel more comfortable with the film in the hands of a more established filmmaker such as Robert Rodriguez.  Nevertheless, he certainly seems to have a knack for using compelling visuals to tell a story.  My only question is whether or not he is capable of blending the inevitable action with the comedic timing that the "Merc with a Mouth" is known for.

But enough of my vetting, have a look at Berg's Carousel below and voice your own opinions on the candidate in the comments.
