In the new trailer for Adult Beginners, a group of 30-sometimes navigate their futures in a way that looks and feels like a Duplass brothers project, but comes from writers Jeff Cox and Liz Flahive, and director Ross Katz (in his debut). This film focuses on,

... a young, hipster entrepreneur (Nick Kroll) who crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s big launch. With his entire life in disarray, he leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged pregnant sister (Rose Byrne), brother-in-law (Bobby Cannavale) and three year-old nephew in the suburbs — only to become their manny. Faced with real responsibility, he may finally have to grow up — but not without some bad behavior first.

Last year, we reviewed Adult Beginners at its TIFF debut, and our critic Phil Brown found the film to be "a warm, charming, and insightful little comedy with some wonderful central performances that’ll slap a smile on your face without insulting your intelligence." Brown also points to Byrne as being a stand-out in the film, though it's evident from the trailer that Kroll's performance is also interesting in that he's playing so against type. (As in, actually empathetic?)
