Marvel may have made its foray into the modern television landscape with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it's their Agent Carter series that's generating the most buzz these days.  If recent reports are true, then the highly secretive series may have just landed a pair of writers and executive producers in Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas of Reaper fame.  The show would center on Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger, and would follow her career as a secret agent after Steve Rogers is lost.  Butters and Fazekas would join the show as part of their overall deal with ABC; they'll also be showrunners on the network's upcoming series, Resurrection.  Hit the jump for more.

Deadline reports that Butters and Fazekas will be joining ABC's Agent Carter series, giving more weight to the possibility that this show could eventually reach viewers.  Dominic Cooper, who played Howard Stark in the first Cap movie, recently commented on possibly reprising his role in the series if the opportunity should arise.  Agent Carter isn't the only new series in the works, but the other planned Marvel shows are headed for Netflix.  And though Agent Carter is still in early development with no official word released as to cast and crew, we do know that Atwell is still interested in starring.  [Update: ABC announced at TCA that Atwell will indeed be reprising her role in the series!]  Take a look at a clip from the Marvel one-shot that inspired this series:

Official synopsis:

Picking up where the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER left off, “Agent Carter” tracks British operative Peggy Carter (THE FIRST AVENGER’s Hayley Atwell) as she joins the nascent S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. As she searches for the enigmatic “Zodiac” key, Agent Carter also battles her sexist, bureaucratic boss, Agent Flynn (THE WEST WING’s Bradley Whitford), who thinks women have no place in the secret-agent business.

Co-starring Dominic Cooper (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER) as Howard Stark, “Agent Carter” is the fourth entry in the fan-favorite “Marvel One-Shot” Short Film Series, which exists within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
