Back in the late 70s, Kenner, the same company that made the original Star Wars figures, designed 3 ¾” action figures for the original Alien.  At the time, Kenner thought Alien would be a big hit and the figures might be another Star Wars.  They thought wrong.  Shortly after they released a 12" Alien figure, which barely sold, Kenner decided to kill the 3 ¾” toy line and the figures never saw the light of day.  However, the prototypes eventually leaked into collectors hands and they were the types of figures everyone always wanted but could never own.

Until now.

Earlier today at Comic-Con, Super7 announced something crazy: they've unearthed the original 33-year-old prototypes and will use them to help make these “lost toys” a reality.  Like all the toys from the 70s, the figures will be loaded with five points of articulation, accessories, and period-authentic blister card packaging.  Included will be Ripley, Ash, Dallas, Kane in Nostromo Suit and the Alien.  Hit the jump for more info and images!

As you can see in the pictures, the figures look incredibly cool and I can't wait to own them.  They're also creating retro-styled glassware (the type they used to sell at Burger King back in the day).

As of right now, there is no release date, but we'll be following the progress on these figures and will post updates as we get them.

So are you excited for these figures?  Will you buy them?  Let me know in the comments.  For more info on the figures, check out the super7 website.
