Producers Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) and Bill Block (District 9) are teaming up to develop the alien invasion thriller Alien Sleeper Cell.  Details are under wraps, but given the title, I suspect it's about the activation of extraterrestrial sleeper agents and the threat they pose to humanity.  The Wrap hears Alien Sleeper Cell described as "a fresh and surprising take on the all-too-familiar alien invasion genre that features the tense tone of The Bourne Identity."  The film will need a fresh and surprising take given all the aliens invading movie theaters over the next couple years: Battle: Los Angeles, I Am Number Four, Cowboys & Aliens, Men in Black 3, Super 8.  Even Battleship has aliens for some reason.

Morgan Davis Foehl will write the script for Alien Sleeper Cell based on an idea from Felipe Linz.  Block's next film is The Fields (due July 16th), and he'll reunite with District 9 director Neill Blompkamp for Elysium. Askarieh's upcoming projects include adaptations of the cartoon Johnny Quest, the comic books Hack/Slash and Lost Squad, and the video game Kane & Lynch, plus the big-budget original Leonardo da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever and a sequel to Hitman.
