Tonight brings casting notices for a pair of actors I always enjoy:

  • Adam Brody will star in the indie drama All the Wrong Reasons alongside Kevin Zegers, Sarah Gadon, and Emily Hampshire.
  • Anna Kendrick has signed on to lead the indie comedy Drinking Buddies, the latest from writer/director Joe Swanberg (Hanna Takes the Stairs).

Hit the jump for details on both projects.

Brody, Zegers, Gadon, and Hampshire play four friends who "wander around New York City over the course of one eventful day," according to VarietyAll the Wrong Reasons is the feature directorial debut of writer/director Gia Milani.  The co-production between Shore Road Pictures and Buffalo Gal Pictures is scheduled to start shooting later this month in Halifax, Canada.  It would be a curious choice to film the New York-set movie entirely in Halifax, better suited to the likes of Titanic and The Shipping News when Toronto is the Canadian city that usually subs in for New York.  But if it has Adam Brody Quips, I would still watch that movie.

Deadline skips the plot details in their report on Drinking Buddies.  Given that Swanberg---a key figure in the mumblecore movement---is directing, expect Drinking Buddies to be a low-key affair about a group of friends who hang out and speak a naturalistic dialogue.  Unless he wants to break form, of course---Kendrick would be a great choice for such a change of pace.  Swanberg will start shooting Drinkin Buddies in Chicago later this month.  Andrea Roa, Anish Savajani, and Alica van Couvering are producing.
