A new image of The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) has been released.  It's not an image from the film, but rather a close-up that highlights the character's grotesque details.  It's definitely a far cry from the Green Goblin armor used in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, but armor is still part of the costume.  Now it's just that cybernetic implants, bad hair, bad skin, and bad teeth are part of the design.  They've even put on a prosthetic pointy nose to make him appear more goblin-like.  Clearly, the character's transformation process is falling from an ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down.

Hit the jump to check out the image.  The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Emma StonePaul GiamattiSally FieldChris Cooper, B.J. Novak, and Felicity Jones.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 2nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.
