American Horror Story has been one of the freshest, most unique shows since the first released over a decade ago in 2011. Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the anthology series has kept us on the edge of our seat year upon year, be that in a terrifying asylum, a twisted circus, or a summer camp similar to the one seen in Friday The 13th.

The series has made household names of its two most reliable leads, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, while the show also earned Lady Gaga a Golden Globe for her performance as The Countess in the 'Hotel' season. Across the shows ten seasons, many famous faces have dropped in for an episode or two, keen to join in on the chaos and madness.

Jenna Dewan - Teresa Morrison - Season Two

American Horror Story Jenna Dewan

Jenna Dewan, an actress best known for Step Up and Take The Lead, found herself knee-deep in blood and guts when she guest-starred in four episodes of the second season of American Horror Story.

Dewan played Teresa Morrison, a hugely committed horror fan who spent her honeymoon visiting multiple sights of mass murder so that she and her husband could consummate their marriage at the scene. Unfortunately for Teresa and her husband, one of their stops was at Briarcliff Manor, where they, unfortunately, found themselves in the path of a serial killer. Not exactly the honeymoon we all dream of.

Neal McDonough - Dwight 'Ike' Eisenhower - Season Ten

Neal McDonough has enjoyed an exceptional career so far, starring in Arrow, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Sonic The Hedgehog, to name just a few of the actor's credits. The esteemed actor recently found himself embodying President Dwight 'Ike' Eisenhower in the most recent season of American Horror Story.

Season ten tackled the conspiracy theory that President Eisenhower met with two aliens in 1954, and McDonough is at his best as he portrays a fictional version of the character that conspiracy theorists will truly come to love. After all, who doesn't love a good old alien rumor?

Chrissy Metz - Ima 'Barbara' Wiggles - Season Four

American Horror Story Chrissy Metz

Chrissy Metz is currently starring in the final season of the critically-acclaimed This Is Us, but back in 2014, she had a five-episode role in the fourth season of American Horror Story. Season four was set at a circus, and Barbara was recruited to join the show on account of her weight, tricked into believing that her size would be celebrated.

However, she was quickly renamed Ima Wiggles and spent her time at the circus being ridiculed for her size. Things did not get better for Barbara, as she was shot down by Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock). A terrible end to a terrible time at the circus.

Rosa Salazar - Maria - Season One

American Horror Story Rosa Salazar

Rosa Salazar has become a household name since starring in Alita: Battle Angel, Bird Box, and The Maze Runner franchise, but she got her start in the debut season of American Horror Story. The first season revolved around a murder house, which trapped those who died there, forcing them to stay forever without ever allowing them to leave.

Maria was a nursing student who was stabbed to death in the murder house in 1968, and she certainly played her part in terrorizing the new homeowners Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, and Taissa Farmiga. A word of warning to everyone, stay clear of that house.

Joan Collins - Evie Gallant/Bubbles McGee - Season Eight

American Horror Story Joan Collins

Joan Collins is iconic. She first appeared in films back in the 1950s, and she's shown no signs of letting up since. Her appearance in season eight of American Horror Story had fans excited, desperate to see what she could bring to the terrifying anthology.

Her character, Bubbles McGee, was a witch who left her coven to pursue her dream of becoming a film star. The scenes she shares with Madison Montgomery, Emma Roberts at her bitchy best, are some of the series strongest, and it's a real shame her appearance in the show was limited to a mere four episodes.

Adam Levine - Leo Morrison - Season Two

American Horror Story Adam Levine

When you think of Adam Levine, you'd be forgiven for thinking of the lead singer of Maroon Five before thinking of the incredible actor who's starred in Begin Again, Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping, and, of course, Family Guy.

Levine played the husband of Jenna Dewan's Terresa Morrison, sharing a rather unconventional honeymoon in which they visited well-known places of death. Levine's incredible vocals were of no help to him in this situation, and he met his bloody end at the hands of Bloody Face, arguably the most terrifying character of the entire series.

Dermot Mulroney - Bob Thompson - Season Seven

American Horror Story Dermot Mulroney

Best known for starring in My Best Friend's Wedding, August: Osage County, and The Family Stone, Dermot Mulroney popped up in three episodes of the seventh season of American Horror Story. The actor, who recently starred in the third season of Amazon's hit series Hanna, played Bob Thompson, a local news anchor with a highly questionable set of morals, especially when it came to the women he worked with.

Like most unlikeable characters on the show, Bob Thompson met an unfortunate end at the hand of a group of clowns and a fellow news reporter. This just in, Bob Thompson lost a fight with a knife.

Alexandra Daddario - Natacha Rambova - Season Five

Alexandra Daddario had a massive 2021, enjoying starring roles in the breakout hit The White Lotus, exciting thriller Die In A Gunfight, and critically-acclaimed The Girlfriend Experience. Before all of this, though, Daddario shared scenes with the Golden-Globe-winning Lady Gage in season five of American Horror Story.

Daddario played Natacha Rambova, an actress in the roaring twenties, before turning into a vampire with her husband Rudolph Valentino and eventually finding herself trapped inside the walls of the Hotel Cortez. Of course, Natacha finally escaped to wreak havoc in the modern-day; after all, a girl's gotta eat.

Mike Colter - David - Season Two

American Horror Story Mike Colter

Luke Cage himself, Mike Colter, graced the warped and twisted world of American Horror Story back when the show was in just its second season. Colter played David, a man who was part of a team of witch hunters working for the Delphi trust. Unfortunately for audiences everywhere, Colter didn't end up having a huge impact on the show.

He and the rest of the witch hunters were slayed by The Axeman (Danny Huston), before he had the chance to make any real impact on the show. If his brief stint on American Horror Story left you desperate for more Mike Colter action, you better binge-watch Luke Cage on Netflix before the show leaves the streamer in March.

Neil Patrick Harris - Chester Creb - Season Four

American Horror Story Neil Patrick Harris

Is it possible to dislike Neil Patrick Harris? The actor has spent his entire life being charming, from first breaking out in Doogie Howser, M.D., to stealing every scene in How I Met Your Mother and eventually showcasing his villainous side in A Series Of Unfortunate Events and The Matrix: Resurrections. Unfortunately for fans, Harris only appeared in two episodes of American Horror Story.

He played Chester Creb, a man whose sanity seemed to come and go from scene to scene. Chester killed multiple people, including his wife and various performers in the freak show, which he was briefly placed in charge of. Thankfully, Creb saw the error of his ways and eventually handed himself in to the police. We'd expect no less from Barney Stinson, either.
