When the writing/producing team behind the sadistic and sexy Nip/Tuck announced that they were bringing a high school musical series to network television, people were understandably confused and skeptical. After the slew of awards and nominations for Glee, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk should have had carte blanche to do whatever they wanted. Thankfully they decided to darken my DVR once more by returning to F/X with a little series called American Horror Story.The show centers around a dysfunctional family who has moved into a house that is home to a murderous history and a variety of prowling creatures. With a growing buzz around American Horror Story, the network will be re-airing all previous episodes staring at 10pm EST on Halloween night. New episodes air on Wednesday nights at 10pm, including the conclusion of the Halloween two-parter featuring guest star Zachary Quinto. Hit the jump for more on American Horror Story. Although some of us weren’t impressed with the series pilot premiere, I gave the other episodes a chance.  Bad decision, because now I’m completely hooked. This has become my guilty pleasure since Nip/Tuck has finished its run and True Blood won’t be back until the summer.The series has grown in ratings each week since its premiere; the only other F/X drama to do that was Nip/Tuck. Since many of you may not have been watching, I won’t spoil anything here. You’ve got one last chance to watch the re-airs this Halloween night before I start telling you my theories about who’s really dead and who’s alive, who’s in the gimp suit, what’s up with the creepy Franken-baby in the basement and which version of the maid is hotter. But perhaps I’ve said too much already…Here’s the official synopsis from F/X’s American Horror Story’s site:

American Horror Story revolves around the Harmons, a family of three who moved from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The all-star cast features Dylan McDermott as “Ben Harmon,” a psychiatrist; Connie Britton as “Vivien Harmon,” Ben’s wife; Taissa Farmiga as “Violet,” the Harmon’s teenage daughter; Jessica Lange in her first-ever regular series TV role as “Constance,” the Harmon’s neighbor; Evan Peters plays “Tate Langdon,” one of Ben’s patients; and Denis O’Hare as “Larry Harvey.” Guest stars for the series include Frances Conroy as the Harmon’s housekeeper; Alexandra Breckenridge as the Harmon’s housekeeper; and Jamie Brewer as Constance’s daughter.

The pilot episode of American Horror Story, shot in Los Angeles, was written by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, and it was directed by Murphy. In addition to Murphy and Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto will also serve as Executive Producer of the series.  American Horror Story is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.
