Ryan Murphy is at it again. We just shared all the details he spilled regarding the American Horror Story: Hotel main characters and Season 5's link to Season 1, Murder House, but now EW is back with even more curious quotes from the show's co-creator.

Let's start with Jessica Lange. You know how we've known that Freak Show would be her final season for quite a while now? Apparently that might not the case anymore. Check out what Murphy said about Lange's involvement in the series going forward:

“I’ve been talking to her. It’s always possible. I’m trying to deal with her play schedule. Jessica is always about the character. She’ll be back—she’s not gone forever. But that’s the fun and fresh thing about the show: sometimes somebody has to go away before you realize how much you miss them. She wants to come back we just have to come up with something.”

Obviously there are no guarantees here, but that does sound like a promise that Lange will return at some point. When? Who knows? If Murphy is currently "trying to deal with her play schedule," they're probably trying to make something happen for Hotel, but if this next bit of news from Murphy pans out, Lange will have many more opportunities to be part of AHS again down the line, even if she misses out on Season 5. Check out what Murphy told EW about the future of the series:

“Next year we might do a fall American Horror Story and a spring. We have to decide.”

He further explained:

“We’re doing something that we’ve never done before on the show where we’re doing two different groups of writers rooms. Some of our writers will be bouncing around but a whole different group coming in late August. The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

Now, this could either be overkill or save the show. I have a feeling I'll never stop enjoying the series, but the quality of the seasons has definitely declined over the years because the writers are trying to cram too much into them. Perhaps having two seasons a year would force them to split the cast, letting them give the main players the screen time they deserve and need in order to deliver well developed characters.

American Horror Story: Hotel kicks off on FX on October 7th and stars Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson and many more.
