I suppose using weed for a promotional item was only a matter of time. The drug is legal in California for medicinal purposes, but it can also be used to help sell a movie. The upcoming stoner comedy American Ultra is bringing a unique bit of swag to San Diego Comic-Con. A company called Real Care Inc., “a certified medical cannabis co-op and delivery service based in Southern California” is delivering "free samples of a unique ‘American Ultra’ strain of medicinal marijuana that was grown by a top San Diego grower exclusively for these purposes, and is available to attendees with a license and legal cannabis card."

Starting early this morning, SDCC patrons can grab some American Ultra weed along with some promo items delivered via bike messenger at one of 14 locations round the city. You can get the hook up by going to TheAmericanUltraProgram.net (the URL is only visible in the San Diego area).

If you don’t have a legal cannabis card, you can still watch an exclusive new clip from the film in an AR environment when you scan the rolling papers or comic book cover with the Blippar app.

Check out the comic book cover and promo items below. If you’re in San Diego and took advantage of this, let us know how it went for you.
