A few new posters have been released online.  Briefly:

  • Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – The first in what will surely be an amusing set of character posters from the comedy sequel sees Steve Carell’s Brick Tamland uncomfortably sitting on top of a building.  The film opens on December 20th.
  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – A new international poster for director Kenneth Branagh’s spy thriller highlight’s the film’s ensemble cast, which includes Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, and Branagh himself.  The film opens on January 17, 2014.
  • Divergent – A new series of character posters from the highly anticipated futuristic thriller YA adaptation kicks off with Maggie Q’s Tori, sporting her tattoo.  The film also stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet and opens on March 21, 2014.  If you missed any of my set visit coverage, click here.
  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – Following this morning’s release of seven character posters from the second installment of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, a new theatrical poster boasts all of the main characters on a single one-sheet--plus a smoky dragon.  The film opens in 2D, 3D, and HFR 3D on December 13th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit:

Based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, “Jack Ryan” is a global action thriller set in the present day.  This original story follow a young Jack (Chris Pine) as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.

The story follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan, which scarred him forever, and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst, under the guardianship of his handler, Harper (Kevin Costner).  When Ryan believes he’s uncovered a Russian plot to collapse the United States economy, he goes from being an analyst to becoming a spy and must fight to save his own life and those of countless others, while also trying to protect the thing that’s more important to him than anything, his relationship with his fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley).
