Though Anchorman 2 doesn’t begin production until next February, Paramount thought it’d be a nice idea to go ahead and shoot a short teaser trailer to drum up awareness.  As we first reported, the teaser will be attached to prints of The Dictator and it includes the entire Channel 4 news team (sans Christina Applegate).  Writer/director Adam McKay recently talked a bit about getting the gang back together to shoot the teaser and dropped a few hints about what to expect in the follow-up (no Ghost Rider, a Serpico beard, and either 3D or ½ D).  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.anchorman-2-sequel-image-will-ferrellFirst up, here’s Paramount’s confirmation of the teaser courtesy of the official Ron Burgundy Twitter account:

“Dont get Twirter. Anchorman2 teaser w Dictator tom night. Dont know what a teaser is. World is crazy? Having a scotch."

McKay corresponded via email with EW to talk a bit about how the teaser came about:

“Paramount came to us with the idea of the teaser and since we’re writing the script it was a good chance to see the characters and hang out with the actors to inspire writing. All of the actors (Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner) slipped right into character and they all looked amazing. Paul has a beard and we’re thinking of keeping it. Kind of an Eddie Rabbit meets Serpico look.”

As for what to expect in the sequel, McKay had this to say:

“Nothing’s set. Right now I can say for sure there is no Ghost Rider cameo or a scene where Ron fights a wolverine on a nose-diving helicopter. We’re either going to shoot the movie in 3-D or 1/2 D.”

I’m insanely excited for Anchorman 2 and I cannot wait to see what the Channel 4 News Team has been up to for the past few years.  Hopefully the teaser lands online soon, in which case we’ll post it here on the site as soon as it’s available.
