Andy Samberg to Host the Emmys

     March 12, 2015

This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards host has been revealed, and it’s a very solid choice. Fox announced today that Andy Samberg has been chosen to host this year’s 67th ceremony, which will take place live on Sunday, September 20th on Fox. The move makes sense given that Samberg is now a part of the Fox family as the lead of the excellent sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but he’s also an incredibly funny performer with a smidge of live television experience.

Samberg had a memorable appearance on last year’s Emmy Awards ceremony, which was hosted by Seth Meyers. He came onto the stage dressed as Joffrey from Game of Thrones and performed a musical number with Weird Al Yankovich. While the hosts of the past few years have been great, the Emmys ceremonies themselves have ranged from extremely disappointing to downright terrible (remember the dubstep Breaking Bad performance?). Here’s hoping Samberg weirds things up this year and makes things a bit more interesting.
