We might not see Anne Hathaway go up against a giant lizard anytime soon due to the legal issues that Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal ran into, but getting to watch her fight men who turn into blood-hungry aliens sounds like a pretty fair trade, right?

According to THR, Hathaway is attached to star in and produce the sci-fi action comedy The ShowerJac Schaeffer penned the script, which earned a spot on last year's Blacklist. The story begins with a baby shower that gets hit by a meteor shower - but it's no ordinary meteor shower. These meteors are actually capable of turning men into vicious aliens, leaving the women to fight them off, save themselves and also the world.

Not only does that premise sound like a total blast, but the tone of the project is also being likened to This is the EndAttack the Block and Bridesmaids. Even better? According to Hathaway, the script also features "fully dimensional female characters." Schaeffer also noted the following:

"Anne is the perfect actor to anchor a story that is ultimately about female friendship, with a lot of ass-kicking along the way."

Well, I'm sold, but if you need more convincing, I highly recommend checking out Schaeffer's feature debut TiMER. It's a highly enjoyable romcom with an especially clever core concept that asks, what if you knew exactly when you'd meet your soulmate?

There hasn't been any update on the Colossal situation since news broke that Toho Co. was suing Voltage Pictures for using images from 2014's Godzilla to draw in investors and distributors, but if Hathaway is picking up a new zany sci-fi project, perhaps Colossal's legal troubles won't clear up soon enough. As for The Shower, apparently the plan is to secure a cast and director before going out to financiers or studios. Hathaway is producing with her husband Adam Shulman, Schaeffer, and Andrew Lauren and D.J. Gugenheim of Andrew Lauren Productions.
