Eventually, Judy Greer has to get a starring role in a blockbuster film rather than fill in at supporting roles.  She's too talented to keep going unnoticed.  But in the meantime, she'll be a familiar face in a few of 2015's biggest film with appearances in Tomorrowland, Jurassic World, and Ant-Man.  In Marvel's latest film, she plays the ex-wife of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), and while doing press for Archer at the TCAs (in which she voices the hilariously unhinged Cheryl), she mentioned her time working on the film and how she prepared for her role.

Hit the jump for more.  Ant-Man opens July 17th, and also stars Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington, T.I., and John Slattery.

Speaking to IGN, Greer said she was unfamiliar with the Marvel Universe, but after working on Ant-Man, she says he's now her favorite superhero, especially because he's being played by Rudd:

Paul is so awesome and he’s so great in this role. This has been my first comic hero that I’ve really researched and fallen for. I also think the Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there’s something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family.

Ant-Man has the chance to differentiate itself from the rest of the MCU by being a (no pun intended) smaller story about family bonds rather than saving the world, which is a nice change of pace.

Greer also said that there was freedom on set to play around with the comedy, and noted that while she hasn't seen the finished film, "there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv."

Given the involvement of Anchorman writer-director Adam McKay, that's not too surprising, and it will be interesting to see if his approach changes the feel of Ant-Man compared to other MCU movies.
