In Black or White, the new film from director Mike Binder (The Upside of Anger), Anthony Mackie plays Jeremiah Jeffers, a high-powered corporate lawyer who agrees to take on the custody case his sister (played by Octavia Spencer) wants to bring against Kevin Costner's Elliot Anderson.  If you're unfamiliar with the film you should check out the trailer along with my interview with Octavia Spencer.

I recently had a chance to sit down with Mackie to talk about Black or White.  We cover his character's history with Octavia Spencer's category, balancing the roles of being a brother to her and her lawyer at the same time, and director Mike Binder's efficient shooting methods.  We also cover the epic scope of Marvel's upcoming Captain America: Civil War, in which he appears as Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon). Check out the interview below.  The film also stars Jillian EstellGillian Jacobs, and Jennifer Ehle. It's in theaters now.

Here's the official synopsis for Black or White:

BLACK OR WHITE is the story of a grandfather (Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner) who is suddenly left to care for his beloved granddaughter. When the little girl’s paternal grandmother (Academy Award® nominee Octavia Spencer) seeks custody, a legal battle ensues that forces the families to confront their true feelings on race, forgiveness and understanding. Anchored by an all-star cast and based on real events, the movie is a look at two seemingly different worlds, in which nothing is as simple as black or white.
