The Terminator Genisys debut is right around the corner, but it looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger is interested in more character-driven material moving forward. According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger is going to jump into a film called 478 next.

The script comes from Javier Gullon and is said to be a “dark” piece about a man who loses his wife and child in a plane crash. When the air traffic controller responsible for the incident is vilified for his mistake, he’s put into protective custody, but that doesn’t stop Schwarzenegger’s character from seeking vengeance. The Deadline article also highlights that this is not your typical revenge film. It’s “more subtle” and will let Schwarzenegger put the acting chops he showed off in Maggie to use.

If you caught my review of Maggie, you know I wasn’t particularly into it to say the least, but Schwarzenegger did a solid job selling his character as an average, loving father and I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing him try to do that again but with better material. Sadly I’ve yet to see Denis Villeneuve’s Enemy, but the general consensus on that movie leads me to believe Gullon could deliver a quality script. No word on who’s directing 478 just yet, but Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa is producing and aims to get the film into production in the fall.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing Schwarzenegger push CG-heavy productions aside for another more dramatic role?
