20th Century Fox has officially announced the exact specs of the previously announced Avatar Collector's Edition.  Getting released November 15 in the UK and the 16th in the United States (right before Black Friday), the three-disc collectors set is absolutely loaded with over eight hours of never before seen material.  If you're a fan of Avatar, this is a must buy box set.  According to the UK press release:

The three-disc Avatar Extended Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and Avatar Collector’s Edition DVD will both feature the original theatrical release, a special edition re-release, and new collector’s extended cut with over 15 more minutes including an exclusive alternate opening earth scene. Viewers will have the ability to journey to the far-reaches of Pandora with “Capturing Avatar“ an in-depth feature length documentary covering the 16-year filmmaker journey that includes all new interviews with James Cameron, Jon Landau and cast and crew exploring Cameron’s unique vision for the film.

The box set also comes with 45 minutes of new never-before-seen deleted scenes.  This is the part that most interests me.  Hit the jump for high res cover art and more details:

Say what you will about James Cameron and Avatar, what I love about this box set is the fact that he's releasing so many deleted scenes and also providing the alternate opening.  Obviously, most of the 45 minutes of deleted scenes won't be completed with final CGI, but it will be great to take a look at what he decided to cut before releasing.

Here's the full UK press release.  You'll notice the first edition (pictured below) is an extremely limited UK "Fan Pack" as only 1000 copies will be available. The other editions are exactly like the USA releases.  Also, the prices you see below are in pounds (the currency in the UK).

Director James Cameron is unlocking the secrets of Pandora and taking fans on a guided tour of his vision with the highly anticipated release of AVATAR Extended Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray and DVD on 15th November.  With three versions of the film, AVATAR fans will get an all-new extended cut of the film, in addition to hours of never-before-seen material including over 45 minutes of amazing deleted scenes.

"I told our team --- let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want. There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes.  Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set," said James Cameron.

The three-disc AVATAR Extended Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and AVATAR Collector’s Edition DVD will both feature the original theatrical release, a special edition re-release, and new collector’s extended cut with over 15 more minutes including an exclusive alternate opening earth scene.
