We’ve got another Avengers: Age of Ultron rumor from Schmoes Know to share.  The outlet possibly just revealed Andy Serkis’ role in the movie and now they claim to have details on a female character who may play a big part in the film as well.  This post contains plot spoilers so if you’d rather not know who this character is, ditch this article and wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.

So here it is.  According to Schmoes Know’s source, Mantis will be part of Avengers: Age of Ultron.  If you’re like me and have absolutely no clue who that is, the Marvel website tells me that the Priests of Pama trained her as a martial artist and are the ones responsible for dubbing her Mantis.  They also taught her how to communicate telepathically with the Cotati, a race of sentient plants.  Over the course of her run in the comics, she bumps into quite a few key MCU characters, so her involvement could be used to link The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers.  Here’s what the Schmoes Know source had to say about that:

“This would seem to make a lot of sense as she 1) has direct ties to Thanos, 2) has even stronger ties to Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, 3) has a personal vendetta in the comics against Klaw and, most importantly 4) has been a prominent member of both The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Schmoes Know goes on to admit that the information isn’t 100%, but also points out that having Mantis pop up in Avengers: Age of Ultron makes sense.  The outlet’s source predicts that Marvel will try to unite the Avengers and the Guardians in Infinity War and that Mantis could be key to making that work.

What do you think?  Is Mantis the mystery character?  Could she be the woman in the cave from the Age of Ultron trailer?
