‘Batman’: Joe Manganiello Confirmed as Deathstroke

Last week Ben Affleck put the internet on its head when he tweeted out that mystery Deathstroke footage, and while later reports indicated that Deathstroke would be appearing in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, it was this week that we got confirmation of those reports along with who will be playing the character. It was confirmed this week by none other than DC Comics president/CCO Geoff Johns that not only would Deathstroke be facing-off against Affleck’s Dark Knight in his own film, but that he would be played by Joe Manganiello as was previously rumored.

Manganiello himself later confirmed the casting and it was also revealed to be him behind the mask in that Deathstroke clip. What remains to be seen is if Manganiello’s Deathstroke will make even a small appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, at the very minimum teasing his introduction into the DCEU. One thing is for sure, Batman and Deathstroke trading blows on the big-screen is something we can all look forward to, especially with what we’ve seen this Batman do in hand-to-hand combat; putting that against a force like Deathstroke promises to be entertaining to watch.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Set Photos Reveal Major Villain

Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to keeps us talking about it with more material coming out of the Jon Watts film, this time with new set photos revealing a major villain. (If you don’t want to know any spoilers, move on to the next story.)

Set photos surfaced this week from Spider-Man: Homecoming revealing that Vulture (Michael Keaton) and The Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) will get some help from Shocker in making Spider-Man (Tom Holland)’s life a little more complicated, as he has done in the comics. Confirmation on the character’s casting is pending, but with this reveal we assume that isn’t too far behind, although the rumored name said to be under the mask is that of Bokeem Woodbine. Another question to present itself from this reveal is how big of a role this classic wall-crawler villain will have in the film, but taking a guess I would say it probably isn’t a large part.

‘Justice League’: J.K. Simmons Wraps Filming as Commissioner Gordon

Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League continues to shoot in London ahead of its release next year, but there is one cast member that has already completed his scenes for the film, and that is J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon. During a recent interview, Simmons revealed that the superheroes “are still at work in jolly old London”, but that he had already completed his part of the movie and returned home.

The actor playing Jim Gordon also mentioned that the character’s part in Justice League won’t be a significant one, but that he does share interactions obviously with Batman (Ben Affleck) and the rest of the League, as well. In the sense that this story is on a larger scale it makes sense for a character like Gordon not to play a big part, but it’ll be nice to see him aid the Justice League in some capacity. Most importantly, we'll get the introduction of both this version of the iconic character and his relationship with Batman.

‘Legion’: New Teasers from FX’s Upcoming Series

Over a month ago we got out first taste of Legion with the release of the first trailer showing us a side of an X-Men story that we hadn’t seen before, and this week that trend continues with the release of new teasers that give us more looks at the weirdness of the upcoming series. In the teasers, we get short glimpses at the colorful characters you will see in the mental institution David Haller (Dan Stevens) is in, plus why you should be careful who you kiss in this story. If anything, we know that we will get something very new and different in Noah Hawley’s Legion, something that the X-Men universe is in need of.

‘The Flash’: Billy Crudup to Play Barry Allen’s Father

Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will get his own standalone film with Rick Famuywa’s The Flash, but while we don’t know what specific story this standalone film will tell, we know his father is a significant character in Barry’s personal story, and this week word got out of what actor is up to play Henry Allen in the upcoming DCEU film.

According to reports, actor Billy Crudup is in talks to play Dr. Henry Allen in The Flash, what is yet to be seen is what version of the character this portrayal will be based on story-wise, given the source material has taken Mr. Allen through a lot of changes.

We are that much closer to the premiere of Marvel’s Luke Cage and like you I cannot wait. Everything we’ve seen so far from the upcoming Netflix series has been great, and the recent early reviews back up all of the expectations and anticipation. Not that we really need it at this point, but we got a new glimpse at the series with the release of a new clip. Mike Colter kicks some more ass in this new clip, breaking hands with his face and stopping bullets with his hand, and though I expect this series to delight us with more than just the action, scenes like this are definitely always fun to see.
