In the first featurette for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, stemming from the film’s massive partnership with Turkish Airlines, director Zack Snyder discusses the decision to pit the Kryptonian strongman against the Dark Knight. Arguably, there hasn’t been such a glaring product placement since Man of Steel where Lois Lane planted her Nikon camera in front of the audience, Superman fought Zod’s forces in front of Sears and through an IHOP, or the explosion of a nearby 7-Eleven. But, if you can get past the inherent advertorial nature of this new featurettte, you’ll get to enjoy some fun behind-the-scenes looks at the making of Batman v Superman.

Keeping with the theme of the overarching DC cinematic universe, Snyder talked about expanding the world established in Man of Steel to Bruce Wayne’s home of Gotham and beyond. Elsewhere, the filmmaker talked about the concept of pitting Superman against another hero, one who is darker in nature.

Watch the featurette below, but be warned that the nauseating Turkish Airlines shoutouts begin at the 1:20 mark:

If you’re wondering how many times Snyder says the phrase “Turkish Airlines,” it’s five times in less than 20 seconds. That’s not including the interspersed film clips, the earlier non Turkish Airlines-related comments from Snyder, and the Turkish Airlines logo sprinkled throughout the video. It seems like both Batman and Superman are the new Captain Amazing from Mystery Men. All that’s missing are their super-suits bedecked in logos from their sponsors.

This featurette is the latest in a string of promotional material that includes the fake destination ads for Gotham City and Metropolis (also from Turkish Airlines) and Ben Affleck’s Batmobile Jeep commercial. And with that, I’ve mentioned “Turkish Airlines” seven times (including this sentence), so I guess the joke’s on me.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25th. For more on the upcoming superhero film, take a look at some of our recent coverage below:
