Warner Bros. has unveiled a pair of new posters for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which believe it or not has just a little over a month to go before release. From the beginning, the marketing for the film has been pretty spot on—and for good reason. With a title like “Batman v Superman” there’s a huge opportunity to highlight both sides of the titular conflict, and from the onset we got a pair of very different posters that focused on each DC superhero. Honestly those posters were pretty tough to beat, but today’s pair of quad one-sheets does offer a different kind of POV twist, as each poster shows one side of a heated fistfight between the central duo.
Visually, Zack Snyder feels like the right guy to bring this battle to fruition onscreen. We’ve seen through various trailers that we’re in for an epic superhero showdown, and the conflict that results when Henry Cavill’s superhuman Superman and Ben Affleck’s grizzled Batman throw down will no doubt be explosive. Will the film itself be any good? There’s reason to hope so, from Oscar-winning Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio’s involvement to the wildly impressive ensemble that features Holly Hunter, Jesse Eisenberg, Scoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons, in addition to returning Man of Steel actors Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. And then, of course, there’s the introduction of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to look forward to. This is absolutely a make-or-break movie for Warner Bros., but I’m hopeful that Snyder and Co. have delivered a compelling and dynamic introduction to the larger DC Cinematic Universe.
For now, ease the wait by taking a closer look at the two new posters, via IMAX. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on March 23rd.
