Baywatch has a pretty solid cast in place for what could be a strong R-rated comedy along the lines of 21 Jump Street. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Hannibal Buress (Neighbors) Ilfenesh Hadera (Billions), model Kelly Rohrbach, Priyanka Chopra (Quantico) and Jon Bass (Jane Wants a Boyfriend). The plot centers on a by-the-books lifeguard (Johnson) who must team up with a young hothead (Efron) in order to stop an oil tycoon from destroying their beach.

The two biggest stars from the original TV series were David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. There’s no word yet on whether or not Hasselhoff will make an appearance, but apparently the filmmakers reached out to Anderson. She told ET Canada [via CS]:

“I haven’t turned it down completely yet. But I have turned down what they offered me. But we’ll see what happens…I haven’t even read the script. I have no idea what it’s about… ‘Baywatch’ was such a huge part of my life. And really they’re trying to do an homage and you know it’s an honour to have them to want me to be a part of it so bad.”

So how necessary is Anderson to a Baywatch movie? Ideally, you’d like to see her be game for whatever they’re going to do. If Johnny Depp can be at his best in 21 Jump Street, then why can’t Anderson and Hasselhoff jump in and play along for Baywatch? I would say that if the script isn’t up to snuff, then maybe it makes sense to pass, but as Anderson says, she hasn’t even read the script. It will be interesting to see if she decides to come on board, and if she does, will they even be able to keep her participation a secret.

Do you think Anderson should be involved with the Baywatch movie? Are there any other stars from the show you want to see in the movie? Sound off in the comments.
