Reported exclusively by Deadline, coming off the making of After We Collided, director Roger Kumble and Voltage Pictures are looking to tackle another YA romance novel. This time, it's the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, with Kumble bringing back Dylan Sprouse, who he worked with in After We Collided, as well as Runaways actress Virginia Gardner.

Speaking with Deadline, Kumble said, "I had a fantastic experience working with Voltage and Dylan Sprouse on After We Collided and I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Ginny Gardner on bringing another beloved novel to life."

The cast of the upcoming Beautiful Disaster adaptation also includes Austin North of Outer Banks fame, as well as Libe Barber, Ethan Embry, and Rob Estes.

Sprouse is best known for his lead role opposite of his brother Cole in Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and is no stranger to the romance genre, with films such as Banana Split and the previously mentioned After We Collided under his belt. Meanwhile, Gardner’s breakout role was in 2018's Halloween rebootquel, in addition to her role as Karolina Dean on Marvel's short-lived Runaways series.

Voltage Pictures looks to emulate the success of the After franchise, films which were a surprising indie hit for the studio, making over $150 million worldwide combined with the third film just coming out last month and the fourth film, After Ever Happy, hitting theaters sometime next year. The studio is striking while the iron is hot and Beautiful Disaster is being added to their already impressive YA lineup that includes previously-released adaptations of Words on the Bathroom Wall, Finding You, and Time is Up.

Voltage will be introducing Beautiful Disaster at the upcoming American Film Market with German studio Leonine already acquiring the rights this past weekend and many other offers have been made in other territories. The film is being produced by Brian Pitt, Mark Clayman, and President/COO of Voltage Jonathan Deckler who made the announcement today. YA adaptations are having a bit of a renaissance thanks to films like the fore-mentioned After Trilogy and, while it remains to be seen if Beautiful Disaster can garner the same fanbase, fans will need to find a new couple to root for after the love story of Tessa and Hardin is over.

The film has no release date as of yet, but to hold fans over, you can read the synopsis below.

In Beautiful Disaster, adapted by Kumble, bad-boy Travis (Sprouse) is exactly what college freshman Abby (Gardner) needs and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights fighting in underground boxing matches, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. But Abby wants nothing to do with Travis. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis offers her a simple bet: if he loses his next fight, he must remain sex-free for a month. If he wins, Abby must live in his apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that Abby’s dark past is about to emerge, and he may have finally met his match.
