Relativity Media has released a new trailer for the upcoming supernatural thriller Before I Wake. The first trailer for this movie actually arrived over a year ago, before Jacob Tremblay had broken out in a big way with Best Picture nominee Room. It marks the follow-up picture from Oculus director Mike Flanagan, who also co-wrote the script with Jeff Howard.

Tremblay stars as a young boy who is adopted by a pair of caring parents (Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane), only to find that his nightmares in their house start to come true. Terrified of falling asleep, the boy is haunted by visions of the couple’s previous child, who is currently dead. So yes, this is one of those horror movies with a creepy ghost kid.

As a fan of Oculus I’ve been curious to check this thing out for some time, and given that it hails from Blumhouse the delay in release doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. In fact, now that it’s coming out after Room, it has the added bonus of featuring an adorable movie star.

Check out the new Before I Wake trailer below. The film also stars Annabeth Gish and Dash Mihok. Before I Wake opens in theaters on September 9th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Before I Wake:

In this intense and heart pounding supernatural thriller, Jessie (Kate Bosworth) and Mark (Thomas Jane) decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody.  Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first, they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep, but soon discover why: Cody's dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody's imagination, and in the next, the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody's nightmares.
