Betty Gilpin, the Emmy-nominated star of GLOW, has joined the cast of Netflix’s crime comedy Coffee & Kareem along with young newcomer Terrence Little Gardenhigh, RonReaco Lee and social media sensation Andrew Bachelor.
Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson are set to star in the film, which Michael Dowse (Stuber) is directing from a Black List script by Shane McCarthy.
Helms will play a Detroit cop who reluctantly teams with his girlfriend’s (Henson) 11 year-old son to clear his name and take down the city’s most ruthless criminal. Gardenhigh will play the young protagonist, Kareem, while Gilpin will play a fellow cop in Helms’ precinct. Lee will likely play the villain, while Bachelor will play one of his henchmen.
Helms will produce along with Mike Falbo via their Pacific Electric Pictures Co. banner, while executive producers include Sanford Nelson, Jordon Foss, Linden Nelson, Don Foss, and Dan Clarke.
Gilpin next stars in A Dog’s Journey and Stuber. She recently wrapped the Grudge reboot and she’s currently shooting Blumhouse’s thriller The Hunt. She’s represented by ICM and Anonymous Content.
Bachelor has starred in the Netflix movies The Babysitter, Game Over, Man! and To All the Boys I Loved Before. He has also appeared on The Mindy Project and Angie Tribeca. King Bach, as he’s better known, is repped by UTA and manager Christina Bachelor.
Lee starred on Survivor’s Remorse and his feature credits include Madea Goes to Jail and Nappily Ever After. He’s repped by APA and AGS Media. Meanwhile, Gardenhigh is repped by The Osbrink Agency and Management 101.
