With a handful of exceptions including Hollywood pros Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine, the mostly young and relatively inexperienced Stranger Things cast initially had few acting credits to their collective names. Now, with season four set to arrive at some point in 2022, the unparalleled success of the show has transformed the cast into household names.

Thankfully, the actors have managed to keep themselves busy in the three years since season three aired. David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, and Millie Bobby Brown have become mightily successful film stars, their names popping up at the front of the credits in some of the biggest blockbusters of the last few years.

Millie Bobby Brown - Enola Holmes

Enola certainly isn't the most popular of the Holmes siblings, but that didn't stop this Millie-Bobby-Brown-led vehicle storming to the top of Netflix's charts. Brown played the titular role of Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, who sets out on an adventure to find her missing mother (Helena Bonham Carter).

The film allowed Brown to remind everybody of her incredible talent, seamlessly shifting from comedic moments to emotional beats and back again. Due to the film's success, Netflix quickly put a sequel into production, and it recently finished filming. Hopefully that means that there isn't long to wait until we see Brown solving mysteries once again.

Joe Keery - Free Guy

Joe Keery enjoyed what was arguably the best character arc on Stranger Things. He began the series as a spoiled bully before transforming into a kind-hearted, honest man who not only looks after Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and his friends but genuinely cares for them.

The action-comedy Free Guy allowed Keery to showcase his empathetic skills once more, playing a programmer whose idea is stolen by his boss, Antwan (Taika Waititi). Keery shared scenes with Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer, highlighting his ability to hold his own when placed alongside industry greats.

Sadie Sink - Fear Street: Part Two - 1978

The Fear Street trilogy clearly took some inspiration from Stranger Things, so it wasn't at all surprising to see Sadie Sink cast as Ziggy, the lead character in the second installment of the hit horror trilogy. The film, which was set in 1978, took place at Camp Nightwing, where a fun, activity-filled summer is gruesomely ruined when another Shadysider is possessed with the urge to kill.

Sink was exceptional in a much darker role than fans have come to expect, bringing both humility and heart to her troubled character. Don't rule out hope for a fourth installment either, as director Leigh Janiak said creating 'the horror MCU' is very much one of her goals with this series.

Maya Hawke - Once Upon A Time In Hollywood...

Maya Hawke Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

The summer of 2019 was huge for Maya Hawke. Not only did she join the cast of the third season of Stranger Things playing Robin, the quirky Scoops Ahoy employee tasked with training Steve, she also appeared in Quentin Tarantino's ninth film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Hawke played Flowerchild, a member of Charles Manson's family who is sent out with a small group to murder Sharon Tate. Flowerchild, realizing what she has gotten herself into, stays in the car and speeds away the second the other family members leave. Despite being only a small role, Hawke's performance was memorable nonetheless, and audiences should expect to see her feature more prominently in future films.

Charlie Heaton - The New Mutants

The New Mutants is a bit of an oddity. Originally conceived as the first installment of a new trilogy, the film underwent massive reshoots before being shelved indefinitely in the wake of Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The film was eventually released in cinemas in 2020, three years after the project had initially wrapped.

This movie had a lot of outside factors going against it, but it features a stellar cast of young talent, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, and, of course, Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton. The horror elements of the film promised a fresh take on the X-Men. With such a talented cast, it's a shame The New Mutants wasn't better received.

Noah Schnapp - Hubie Halloween

Hubie Halloween Noah Schnapp

It's a match made in heaven. The star of one of Netflix's biggest shows teaming up with Adam Sandler, who recently inked another four-picture deal with the streamer. Hubie Halloween follows Hubie, a man who's terrified of Halloween. Yet, he is devoted to the safety of his hometown Salem, meaning he ventures out to ensure the celebrations are safe.

Noah Schnapp played Tommy, a boy trying to enjoy the festivities and maybe fall in love with the girl of his dreams. Given that Schnapp's Stranger Things character Will hasn't yet had a romantic subplot, it was refreshing to see him showcase his lovestruck acting abilities, even if the film as a whole wasn't particularly thrilling.

David Harbour - Black Widow

There were many standout characters in Scarlett Johansson's final outing as Black Widow, be that Florence Pugh's quick-witted Yelena or Rachel Weisz's unforgiving Melina, but none of these characters get a semi-believable story about beating Captain America (Chris Evans) in a fight.

David Harbour's Red Guardian is an excellent addition to the MCU. He's deluded and unaware, but capable of moments of incredible warmth. It's currently unclear if Harbour will return in a future MCU project, but many fans are hoping that we'll see him come up against the Star-Spangled man, although we doubt he'd win that fight.

Finn Wolfhard - Ghostbusters: Afterlife

finn-wolfhart-looking-ghostbusters-afterlife

Finn Wolfhard's resume is scarily impressive for someone who has only been on the scene for a few years. He has gone from strength to strength since his breakout role as Mike on Stranger Things. First, he stole the show in Andy Muschietti's IT: Chapter One before fixing up Ecto-1 in Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Wolfhard played Trevor, a young boy forced to move to their grandfather's old farmhouse with his mother (Carrie Coon) and sister (McKenna Grace). Oh, and his grandfather just happens to be Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis). Wolfhard was a delight in the role, clearly enjoying his part in another 1980's inspired project. Hopefully, he'll be back for the teased sequel.
