bored to death slice

HBO has released a brief trailer for the second season of the Jason Schwartzman comedy series Bored To Death. The high concept comedy about a struggling writer's second life as an unlicensed detective. Hit the jump for the trailers and some thoughts on why this show is worth your time. The new season of Bored To Death is set to debut this September on HBO.

Bored To Death was one of my favorite shows to watch last year and I can't wait for the new season. The trailer mixes dry humor with a noir-style presentation. We get to see Jason Schwartzman's Woody Allen inspired character, Jonathan Ames (named for the show's creator), acting as nervous and in over his head as ever. We also get a look at what I believe was the biggest strength of the first season: the supporting cast. Ted Danson looks as funny as ever as Ames' eccentric friend and boss, George Christopher. We also see Zach Galifianakis as Ray, Ames' best friend and the main voice of reason for Ames and Christopher. In the aftermath of The Hangover one would expect the show to lean heavily on Galifianakis, but the show balances these three main characters very well and never seems to rely too much on Galifianakis (or Danson) for a big laugh. Needless to say, I have high hopes for the show's sophomore season .
