Now available on 20th Century Fox’s Fox Movies international website is the trailer for the wedding comedy “Bride Wars.” The film stars Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson as two best friends who become rivals when their dream weddings are mistakenly scheduled for the same day and location.

Hathaway, who is currently getting a bit of awards buzz over her turn in “Rachel Getting Married” is probably not psyched that this below-market revenge comedy (also with a wedding motif) may steal some of her ‘serious actress’ thunder. As for Kate Hudson- I’m sure she’s welcoming anything that might deflect attention away from “My Best Friend’s Girl.” She may even be considering starting up another 3 month romance with some inappropriately random semi-celebrity.

The good news from the “Bride Wars” trailer is that Candice Bergen has a small role as the wedding planner. Bergen has been the lone saving grace for two of this season’s highest-profile chick-flicks (“Sex & the City” and “The Women”) so chances are she’ll shine in “Bride.” The bad news is that “Lipstick Jungle” director Gary Winick has the helm: as if we needed more shoe-worshipping women with tales of bikini-waxes gone-wrong in our lives.

“Bride Wars” opens on January 9, 2009
