The Movie Talk team of John Campea, Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp and Dennis Tzeng dive in to give their non-spoiler review of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.
The much anticipated sequel to Captain America: Winter Soldier doesn't hit theatres for another month, but it seems Marvel is so confidant in the movie they figured, "why not?" and opened up their movie to critics and industry people everywhere to enjoy.
And did they ever enjoy it. Reports from these early screenings have been overwhelmingly positive, citing this movie by directors Joe and Anthony Russo as one of the best superhero movies of all time. Some are even calling it one of Marvel's best, comparing it to the original Avengers and the aforementioned Winter Soldier. With a cast led by Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, the movie see a return of most of the Avengers, including Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd and Paul Bettany, all of whom must choose a side. The panel also give some big shout-outs to the new version of Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, as well as Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther - both characters that are finally realized in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
