Iron Man 2 features a fair share of video footage of John Slattery as Howard Stark (aka Tony's father) circa 1974.  The character will play some role in Marvel's upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, though its 1940s setting would preclude the silver fox Slattery from reprising his role decades earlier, save for a hideous digital de-aging process.

Though it wasn't worth, you know, elaborating on, Salon recently chatted with Dominic Cooper (An Education) at Cannes regarding his recent turn in Stephen Frears's Tamara Drew.  Off camera, they confirmed that the actor has secured the role of Howard Stark in the upcoming Captain America.  The superhero film stars Chris Evans in the title role alongside Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, and (of course) Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.  As directed by Joe Johnston (Wolfman) Captain America: The First Avenger will hit theaters on July 22, 2011.
