Six new character posters for Universal's Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World have been revealed on Pilgrim director Edgar Wright's (Shaun of the Dead, Hot FuzzTwitter feed in photographs taken at London Expo. The 6 posters give us a good look at Ramona Flowers' 7 evil ex-boyfriends (one poster features both twins Ken and  Kyle Katayanagi) who we first saw in the teaser trailer released a few months back. On that note, Wright has promised to release the first non-teaser trailer once the Pilgrim Facebook page get's 100,000 "likes", so if that's something that interests you, click here. Hit the jump for the posters, what the  posters mean for the film's marketing and full synopsis of the film if you're just tuning in.

The 6 posters reveal Ramona's 7 evil exes: (in numerical order) Matthew Patel (Satya Bhabha), Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh), Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman), Kyle and Ken Katayanagi and Gideon Graves (Jason Schwartzman). As a quick refresher, the film stars Michael Cera as the title character and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as his love interest Ramona Flowers. To anyone who has seen the epic teaser-trailer, the images of these 7 characters is old news. What is really important here is that it appears that Universal is ready to invest a lot into this film. After a series of commercial and critical flops over the past two years (some recent underperformers include Duplicity, State of Play, The Soloist, Land of the Lost, Public Enemies, Bruno, Funny People, The Wolfman, Green Zone and Repo Men) the studio seems to have high hopes for Edgar Wright's latest. In fact, when Steve recently spoke with NBC Universal President and CEO Jeff Zucker, Zucker mentioned the film as something he was looking forward to coming up. At Collider, we've been talking up the movie for over a year and hopefully Universal is going to give the film a big push before its August 13th release date, just as they are heavily promoting Get Him To The Greek.

If you want even more Pilgrim, check out Matt's recently posted Set Visit Report and Video Blog and our recent interviews with cast members Johnny Simmons, Ellen Wong, Alison Pill and Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman and Director Edgar Wright. If all of the above was very confusing to you, check out the official synopsis below the posters. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World comes out August 13th.

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot FuzzShaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker’s quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass–and now is back in town–to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.

As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past–from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.
