With director Richie Keen’s Fist Fight opening this weekend, I recently sat down with Charlie Day to talk about the film. During the interview he talked about why he wanted to make the movie, how the very funny dance sequence in the 3rd act came together, why people love watching Ice Cube scream at people, and more. In addition, with Day reprising his role as Dr. Newton Geiszler in director Steven S. DeKnight’s Pacific Rim: Uprising, he revealed what fans can expect in the Pacific Rim sequel and how his character has some “great new clothes.”

Check out what Day had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about followed by the Fist Fight trailer and synopsis. Fist Fight also stars Jillian Bell, Tracy Morgan, Christina HendricksJoAnna Garcia SwisherDean NorrisKumail Nanjiani and Dennis Haysbert.

Charlie Day:

  • What does he buy when It’s Always Sunny gets renewed?
  • Why did he want to make Fist Fight?
  • People love seeing Ice Cube scream at people. Why?
  • Talks about how the dance number sequence in the 3rd act came together (it’s extremely funny).
  • What can he say about Pacific Rim 2?

Here's the official synopsis for Fist Fight:

On the last day of the year, mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that put jobs on the line. But things go from bad to worse when he accidentally crosses his much tougher and deeply feared colleague, Ron Strickland (Ice Cube), who challenges Campbell to an old-fashioned throw down after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire and ends up becoming the very thing this school, and Campbell, needed.
