Deadline also reported on a slew of other casting for upcoming pilots. First up is Annabeth Gish (Mystic Pizza) who will be joining the ABC soap/drama Americana. The series is based on iconic fashion designer, Robert Soulter (Anthony LaPaglia) and his sprawling, unwieldy family. When young, up and coming designer, Alice Clarke (Ashley Greene) enters the picture, she turns the family and the fashion world upside down. Gish will star as Alice's mother, herself a fading beauty. Americana also stars Emilie de Ravin (Lost).Next up is Cougar Town co-star Dan Byrd, who has landed a starring role in Louis CK and Spike Feresten's comedy pilot for CBS. The project follows Fred (Byrd), an intelligent but cash-strapped film editor who has no patience for stupid people and spends his time remarking on their exploits. The focus on Fred is a specific instance of the overall plot, which is an ensemble piece with young, creative types attempting to realize their dreams in an economic downturn. Finally, Luke Goss (Hellboy II: The Golden Army) has joined ABC's drama pilot, Penoza. Written by Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight), Penoza centers on Martha, a widow of an assassinated mobster who must assume her husband's criminal role in order to protect her family. Making his first inroads into television, Goss will play Martha's mob father's bodyguard who is assigned to look after her and her children.
